This was a really interesting piece, how a call from your daughter at university caused instantl panic and assumption there was an emergency.

The quick leap rom a call to panic made the article easy to follow, and revealing the call was good news gave it context.

Bringing in Dr David Burns and connecting his idea of “fortune telling” really helped name the pattern: predicting a bad outcome and treating it as if t’s already happened.

The steps for handling that stress, labelling the thought, checking the facts and pausing - were very clear and practical.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. The work of David Burns is seminal in so many ways, not just the management of clinical depression. CBT is applicable to so many aspects of our leadership and everyday life.

Very worthwhile doing so, he has a website and also his initial book, “Feeling Good” is an extremely interesting read.
