For years I’ve advocated for bringing your whole self to work. The truth is, I haven’t always brought mine.
I’ve been professionally introduced dozens of times over the years and, save for the odd variation, it usually sounds something like this:
Ash Wright, senior leader in financial services, who has built and led large operational teams and delivered organisational change.
All true, but incomplete.
The internet has an infinite memory and once I put this out there, I can’t take it back. That’s confronting, but also strangely liberating. After years of telling the safer version of my story, bringing my whole self to the fore matters more to me now than the safety of keeping parts hidden.
